LifeLink Day 2017

Welcome to my ‘2017 LifeLink Day for Catholic Schools’ initiative

LifeLink Day 2017 will officially be launched on Wednesday 7 June 2017 during WA Week.

It is appropriate that during this week of celebrating what is great about our State, that we focus on and remember people in need within the community – people right here ‘at home’ in WA.

LifeLink Day provides a wonderful opportunity for student’s attending Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Perth, to join together to show their collective support for the many Church social service agencies – agencies which on behalf of us all, reach out to provide practical care and direct assistance to thousands of people in need within the community.

peopleinneedWe don’t ask why people are in need; we don’t ask them to explain them to explain how; we don’t judge them nor do we condemn them. We simply say, “Here’s someone in need; here’s someone who is finding life a real struggle at the moment; here’s someone who has the same hopes and dreams as we do, but whose life hasn’t worked out the way they would have hoped – and we ask ‘How can I help’.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Primary schools are this year asked to get behind my “Open Your Heart’s to People in Need” campaign.

I hope every primary school in the Archdiocese of Perth will enthusiastically support this new initiative…and have a lot of fun doing so. Bishop Sproxton and I look forward to seeing the photos and results from your school.

Representatives from every primary school have been invited to join Bishop Sproxton and me for the Official Launch of LifeLink Day on Wednesday 7 June 2017.

At this launch, we will collect and display all the individual ‘LifeLink Day Hearts’ which you and your school have produced…. a powerful visual representation of how we work together, as one Catholic family, to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need.

In doing so, we express our Faith and truly walk in the footsteps of the Good Shepherd.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS

More than 24 secondary schools (210 students, principals and teachers) have confirmed attendance for my 2017 Archbishop’s Forum for Secondary Schools at Aranmore College on Tuesday 2 May 2017.

A wonderful response – thank you! This is an event which Bishop Don and I really look forward to in the annual calendar.

I hope that each of the student representatives attending will be my ‘link’ in their school, sharing their experience with fellow students and teachers, and helping to spread the good news about LifeLink and LifeLink Day.

I am also very pleased that every school and every student will have the opportunity of participating in this event, as for the first time, we will A reminder that this launch will be LIVESTREAM both sessions of the Forum.

I wish you and your school every success and thanks for supporting LifeLink Day 2017.

Together, we can (and do) make a difference!
