St Mary’s School, Merredin – Lead By Example for LifeLink Day

Ray Rose, Principal of St Mary’s School, Merredin, kindly sent us the following information regarding his students wonderful activities for LifeLink Day.

“Over the last couple of weeks the students from St Mary’s School, Merredin have been involved in many activities to raise awareness and funds for LifeLink Day.

For several weeks, at our Monday morning short assemblies, our Religious Education Ministry researched and presented information from some of our wonderful Catholic Agencies.

The children were also involved in discussing ways we could help those in need in our community and fashioned our LifeLink Hearts where they created drawings or prayers to offer to people in need.

St Mary’s School students also raised funds in numerous ways…

  • As part of the Design and Technology unit the Year 6 students created their own Arcade Games. These games were on display for a day and all students from all classes got to play these games for a gold coin donation.
  • We also organised a school lunch time disco where students were able to dress up and dance the lunch time away for a small donation to LifeLink.
  • Finally on our day of LifeLink celebrations, we planted our heart prayers and drawings, had a free dress day as well as a sausage sizzle lunch where all proceeds were donated to LifeLink.

It was a wonderful time for our students and our small community, not only to become more aware of the fantastic work that our Catholic Agencies do in our community but also raise nearly $1,000 which is a tremendous effort”.

Thanks so much for the tremendous photos and all the details of your LifeLink Day activities Mr Rose.

We were so impressed by the number of events and activities which your students participated in, and the commitment to sharing information throughout the school community.

To raise $1,000 for people in need within the community is a remarkable achievement – congratulations.

St Mary’s School has truly embraced the Archbishop’s LifeLink Day initiative this year. May your example be one which others will follow.

Our heartfelt thanks to you, your teaching staff and especially… the wonderful students at St’ Mary’s School, Merredin.

We’ll make sure Archbishop Timothy and Bishop Don see you photos and hear about your collective support for LifeLink Day 2017.

From Brett Mendez, Manager, LifeLink and everyone from the LifeLink Office.
