Stella Maris, an organisation first established in Fremantle in 1947, recommenced its service to the seafarers’ community in 2024.
As an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth, and funded through LifeLink, Stella Maris provides pastoral, spiritual and practical care to all seafarers who visit the ports of Kwinana and Fremantle. Its mission is to make care, hospitality and service a missionary expression of Jesus’ concern for those who work at sea.
His important ministry recognises that shipping is a significant contributor to the Western Australian people, as most goods that are purchased are transported from all around the world via sea lanes. Seafarers working on board ships often do so in difficult conditions, and they deserve respite in a welcoming and comfortable environment on land.
