Welcome to my ÔÇÿ2019 LifeLink Day for Catholic SchoolsÔÇÖ initiative

LifeLink Day 2019 will officially be launched on Wednesday 5 June 2019 during WA Week.

It is appropriate that during this week of celebrating what is great about our State, that we focus on and remember people in need within the community ÔÇô our ÔÇÿbrothers and sistersÔÇÖ right here ÔÇÿat homeÔÇÖ in WA.

LifeLink Day provides a wonderful opportunity for students attending Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Perth, to join together to show their collective support for the many Church social service agencies ÔÇô agencies which on behalf of us all, reach out to provide practical care and direct assistance to thousands of people in need within the community each year.

We donÔÇÖt ask why people are in need; we donÔÇÖt ask them to explain them to explain how; we donÔÇÖt judge them nor do we condemn them.

We simply say, ÔÇ£HereÔÇÖs someone in need; hereÔÇÖs someone who is finding life a real struggle at the moment; hereÔÇÖs someone who has the same hopes and dreams as we do, but whose life hasnÔÇÖt worked out the way they would have hoped ÔÇô and we ask ÔÇÿHow┬ácan┬áI┬áhelpÔÇÖ.

LifeLinkÔÇÖs ÔÇÿBig Book of Love & HopeÔÇØ

Messages of support and care to people in need
from Catholic school students in the Archdiocese of Perth

Schools are requested to produce a book and fill it with whatever each school decides to include ÔÇô prayers, messages of support to people in need, photos, information on the work of our LifeLink agencies, electronic materials etc.

  • It is hoped each class will provide material which the school will then collate into one book.
  • There is no size restriction on the size of the book or limit placed on the creativity of the young people.
  • The books will be displayed during the national Catholic Youth Festival which will be held here in Perth later this year.
  • Afterwards, these books will be permanently displayed in the ArchbishopÔÇÖs Office, CEWA, given to our agencies, aged care facilities, hospitals etc.

The Archbishop and Bishop are very much looking forward to see where your creativity takes you.

Representatives from every primary school have been invited to join the Bishops for the Official Launch of LifeLink Day on Wednesday 5 June 2019.

At this launch, we will collect and display the Books of Love from each school.

It will be a powerful reminder that when we work together, as one Catholic family, to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need. we are expressing our Faith and truly walking in the footsteps of the Good Shepherd.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Archbishop Costelloe and Bishop Sproxton are very much looking forward to welcoming you to this special event, and to have the opportunity of speaking with you, and listening to you.

We hope that every student representative returns to their school and shares their experience with fellow students and teachers helping spread the good news about LifeLink and LifeLink Day.

Video from my 2019 Forum will be available online here by 5 June 2019.

We wish you and your school every success and thanks for supporting LifeLink Day 2019.

Together, we can, and do, make a difference!
